Granny Ripple CAL

I have been meaning for quite awhile now to do a crochet a long.  Unfortunately I had no real crochet friends in the area to gather with and knew a meager few distantly.  Well I finally got someone who wanted to do one with me and while I am behind (between work, minding the lil one, a day job, and the million other things I do during the week) I am making steady progress!

The pattern I submitted was one for a chevron pattern using the mesh granny square stitch.  It makes a nice throw to afghan size depending on your hook & yarn choice (mine is turning about to be a nice throw for the couch I think).

While I wanted to buy all new yarn for this, given my fairly extensive stash I had enough yarn to spare to eek something out.  It was just a matter of choosing the colors.  So far what has emerged has been a fun explosion of color with a theme of three shades - light, medium, & dark - of each color and a pattern of the first and last color being one row taller than the middle row.
